Your first private-label tape order: labels, cores and cartons

SLITORA editorial team · Published

The short answer

Private labelling is more than placing a logo. Decide where branding appears and how many rolls each packaging level contains before approving artwork and order details.

Separate three packaging levels

Specify branding for the roll core, individual roll label or wrap, and shipping carton separately. Standard plain packaging is also an option; not every level needs custom artwork.

Create an artwork approval sheet

We suggest recording logo revision, product name, units, language, barcode content and carton quantity. The brand owner should confirm wording and usage rights. Do not print unverified certification, temperature or environmental claims.

Agree how changes are handled

Ask about proofs, associated charges, minimum quantities and changes after approval. Retain the final artwork against the correct product grade rather than using a draft screenshot as the production instruction. Discuss lead time once artwork and specifications are agreed.

Use this guide for initial selection. Confirm suitability with the selected grade’s documentation and samples in your application.
