Custom tape slitting: what to include in a quotation request

SLITORA editorial team · Published

The short answer

You do not need to know every technical term before enquiring. Separate application, dimensions, quantity, packaging and delivery so the quotation can be checked clearly.

Include units with dimensions

State width in millimetres and length in metres per roll. Clarify whether thickness includes the liner and specify the core’s inside diameter. List tolerances separately; example dimensions are not a supply-range promise.

Separate trials from bulk orders

Give sample quantity, expected first order and future requirements separately. Say rolls, cartons or pieces; confirm rolls per carton when ordering by carton. If quantity is undecided, describe the application.

Describe the packaging

Distinguish plain packaging, individual roll labels and branded cartons. For private labels, discuss text, barcodes, language and packing format before approving artwork and the order.

Compare the complete offer

Check grade, dimensions, tolerances, quantity, packaging, samples, destination, transport and associated costs alongside price. Minimum quantities and lead times depend on the specific quotation, not website examples.

Use this guide for initial selection. Confirm suitability with the selected grade’s documentation and samples in your application.
