Choosing carton-sealing tape: boxes, equipment and shipping

SLITORA editorial team · Published

The short answer

Tape width alone does not determine a good seal. Confirm the actual carton, packed weight, sealing method and shipping conditions, then trial the complete package.

Use the actual carton

Carton surfaces vary and affect tape selection. Use the planned box, including recycled-board or specially treated versions, rather than treating a smooth test panel as representative of every package.

Include equipment constraints

State hand dispenser or automatic case sealer, tape width, roll length, core inside diameter and permitted roll diameter. A longer roll does not necessarily fit the existing equipment.

Evaluate a packed box

We suggest packing to the actual weight and recording sealing method, contact, storage duration and any opening after transport. Compare roll length, carton specification and packing quantities alongside unit price.
