A quick finger-tack check is not enough to select a tape. Define both materials, service conditions and acceptance criteria so candidate samples can be compared meaningfully.
Surface and application both matter
Surface condition, application pressure and time after bonding affect adhesion. Use the selected grade’s guidance for cleaning, pressure and dwell time rather than copying another tape’s parameters.
Write a repeatable test brief
We recommend identifying every sample and recording both materials, thickness, width, bonded area, application method and evaluation time. Keep conditions comparable so process differences are not mistaken for material differences.
Agree what acceptance means
Decide what to inspect before testing: edge lift, slip, surface damage and removability where required. Load-bearing or safety-critical joints need appropriate professional evaluation; a simple trial is not a substitute.
Turn results into a purchase brief
Return sample IDs, photographs and observations before agreeing roll sizes and quantity. For foam or plastic, give the actual material name where possible rather than simply saying “plastic”.
